Dissertation project

The dissertation focuses on the prosody of vowel glottalization and stops in Yucatecan Spanish as it is spoken in Felipe Carrillo Puerto, a relatively large municipality in the middle of the so-called 'Maya area' in the state of Quintana Roo, Mexico. It takes into account the acoustic nature of the sounds under consideration, prosodic strengthening, other linguistic factors, and also the role of Spanish-Maya bilingualism.
